Prof Dr Fatma Sarıcaoğlu (TURKEY) as the representatives of their societies have decided to take the necessary steps to establish an umbrella organisation ,named Balkan Anesthesia Forum, for the national societies of anaesthesiology, pain and intensive care medicine in the Balkan countries.
The aims of the Forum will be :
To utilise the joint forces of the Balkan national societies of anaesthesiology,
To achieve and maintain a high quality level and an outstanding professional standard of the speciality in the Balkan countries based on scientific methods
To be a forum in Balkans for scientific discussions and co-operation and to encourage exchange of ideas in the fields of anaesthesia, intensive care medicine and pain therapy,
To work for scientific development and progress of the speciality and to support experimental and clinical research in the above mentioned fields of interest and to facilitate the presentation and publication of the results,
To promote continuing medical education and training and provide the organisation of postgraduate courses and clinical training and exchange programmes in order to improve the qualifications of Balkan anaesthesiologists
To support the anesthesiology and related scientific journals of the Balkan countries
To provide the prerequisites for the organisation and arrangement of an international scientific congress every second year in rotation among the member countries.
